On September 21st I will be holding the first in a series of Western Dressage clinics. There will be two more dates this year along with dates beginning in Spring of 2014.
The clinic being held on the 21st is called Intro To Western Dressage. This clinic will give you and your horse a foundation to begin training, as well as break down and simplify Western Dressage. We will discuss the Pyramid Training method which will give your a horse solid foundation to build on. This method will improve your riding skills in general, whether or not you compete in Western Dressage. You will learn about collection, straightness, rhythm, relaxation, and connection. We will discuss proper balance. You will learn about riding with your seat, legs and whole body. We will teach you about looseness and relaxation throughout your body to encourage your horse to move freely forward in steady tempo and rhythm.
We will explain the movements required when riding a test, as well as the goals when riding a test. You will learn about the required movements, gaits, and how a test is scored. Our main focus at this clinic will be Horsemanship Test 1/Intro Test 1 so you will be able to ride a portion of the test while being instructed, which will give you an idea of what it's like for you and your horse to ride a test.
The purpose of this clinic is literally to give you an introduction to Western Dressage in a relaxed , safe and comfortable environment for you and your horse.
